Dr. Ron Shapiro has received numerous awards and honors over the years for his educational contributions. These awards come from his colleagues and from some of the major societies and organizations in the field of hair transplantation including the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. Below are just a few of the awards he has received.

GOLDEN FOLLICLE AWARD

In 2004, Dr. Ron Shapiro was honored with the Golden Follicle Award, given for “outstanding and significant clinical contribution in the field of hair restoration surgery." It is considered one of the highest honors in the field with only one physician chosen by his or her peers each year.

“GUEST OF HONOR” FROM THE EUROPEAN SOCIETY

In 2007, Dr. Ron Shapiro was chosen to be the guest of honor at the 10-year anniversary of the European Society of Hair Restoration Surgeries. The first physician to receive this honor, Dr. Shapiro was recognized for his dedication to the field in teaching and performing live surgery demonstrations at every European conference.

PIONEER OF THE MONTH

In 2004, Dr. Ron Shapiro was named Pioneer of the Month in the journal, Hair Transplant Forum, the principle publication of the field of hair transplantation.

“MICHELANGELO AWARD” FROM THE ITALIAN SOCIETY

In 1997, Dr. Ron Shapiro was awarded the Michelangelo Award from the Italian Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHR). He has visited Italy nine times to lecture and perform live surgical demonstrations at ISHR conferences. He has also received three other awards of recognition from the Italian Society.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS FOR ISHRS 6 YEARS

In 1998, Dr. Ron Shapiro was voted by his peers to serve on the Board of Governors for the ISHRS. He served from 1998 to 2004.
