Low Level Light Therapy

Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) has been shown to grow thicker, fuller hair in men and women with hair loss.   LLLT stimulates cellular activity resulting in healthier, more robust hair follicles.  Available as an in-office treatment (laser hood device) as well as a home (portable) unit, such as the LaserCaptm device,  LLLT delivers small, extremely safe amounts of therapeutic laser energy to hair follicles.  LLLT is designed to be applied/received about three times a week, for about 15 - 30 minutes per treatment.  There are numerous in-office and portable LLLT devices on the market today, however, maintaining one's treatment regimen is vital to success.  That's why  portable units have surged in popularity.   Shapiro Medical Group offers both the laser-hood option as well as portable devices with a rechargeable battery pack.

LLLT was cleared in recent years by the FDA for hair re-growth.

LLLT may also improve healing of the donor incision site and  recipient sites following a hair transplant surgical procedure.  Drs. Ron and Paul Shapiro recommend patients sit under the in-office laser hood the day after surgery, for about 30 minutes, to stimulate the healing process. Then, ideally, a patient should commit to a regimen of three times/week (in-office or with a portable unit) to maximize the effects of LLLT.
