The Consultation Process

Two Step Consultation Process

Step #1: Initial Educational Session.
At this initial meeting, we gather information about your specific hair loss situation. We also go over the basic principles of hair transplantation as well as the SMG approach. We believe this step is crucial to making an informed decision. Matt Zupan, our patient educator, has worked with Dr. Ron Shapiro for nearly 20 years. Most patients say that this session is invaluable to their understanding of what is involved.

Step #2: In-depth evaluation and plan by Dr. Ron Shapiro. Following the initial educational session, a patient then has the opportunity to meet or talk with Dr. Shapiro to do a final evaluation and create a unique plan for his or her hair loss.

Shapiro Medical Group’s two-step process is the best way to fully educate a patient with the goal of meeting expectations. The information the patient receives in the initial session with our patient educator makes the final evaluation with the physician much more productive.

In-House Consultation

To ensure the best outcome, we recommend an in-house consultation to assess your situation in person. With an in-house consultation, we can better evaluate important characteristics like donor density, scalp laxity, and recipient-area density. Patients who live locally, or who are willing to travel, most often take advantage of an in-house consultation.

Phone Consultation

As many of our patients come from outside the U.S., we’ve developed an effective phone consultation procedure. In order to make the phone consult productive, we must gather some crucial information and receive a photo by mail or email before the consult.
